Why a blog?

As I have been pondering for the last few months on what my first blog post should be, lots of ideas surfaced and my procrastinating mind took over and nothing was ultimately done.
There are loads of questions that I answer on a daily basis in my DM’s, on Messenger, in my online classes, as well as a few that I get from my audience or the clients that I meet. I have questioned myself innumerable times on this: how can I answer these questions on a larger scale? How can I reach more people, share my knowledge and, most importantly, share joy?

Ultimately, sharing joy was the main motivation of starting the page ‘Simple Joys’ on my website. Our life is extremely hectic, we rarely pause to breathe - I lovingly call this break ‘the sacred pause’...but more on that some other day. The intention of ‘Simple Joys’ was to share and spread a little smile when you feel down, or when you see those free downloads on a busy day. To help calm your mind and take a sacred pause looking at the beautiful wallpaper in your phone, tablet or computer.

Now coming back to your queries, I thought that a blog can be one place, one, very warm, creative, beautiful place, where I can share everything that I know, do and practice, as well as open my heart to listen to yours. I know, I know, many of you might be thinking: why not Instagram and Facebook? Yes, I’ve thought about this or rather, carefully considered it, for long. Many as you might already post regularly on these platforms. Though I will still continue posting there, I want to keep this beautiful creative blog as a safe space to discuss and share tips on creativity. I don't really have anything against social media sites, they’re really helpful tools to learn and share information; but I find them a bit overwhelming sometimes…an overflow of information and advertisements, everyone trying to hog the limelight and show their audience how much better they are than others.

So, writing a blog is my way of maintaining equilibrium between the chaotic and the peaceful, the competitive and the laid-back. I hope to publish my thoughts and musings here, as well as helpful tips and inspiration on the safe, creative space. Stay tuned for more!

Much Love,
Arpita
