Creative Women’s Day at Bureau Veritas Mumbai

Women’s Day at Bureau Veritas, (both, their Digha, Navi Mumbai office, as well as Andheri, Mumbai workplace!)  was such a unique day a celebration that didn’t just tick boxes, but touched hearts. While hosting the event, I was very clear that it won’t be a typical corporate event. It was an invitation. An invitation to pause. To breathe. To pick up a brush, and maybe just maybe drop a little bit of stress. There were no PowerPoint slides, no spreadsheets, and no “Let’s circle back on this.” Instead, there were paint brushes, blank tote bags, and a room full of women ready to trade in deadlines for designs.

And paint we did… to our hearts content.

The theme of the day was “Accelerate Action”a powerful call to step forward, to speak up, and to own our space. But we discovered that sometimes, action doesn’t have to roar. Sometimes, it hums quietly through a brushstroke, a shared story, or a moment of stillness.

We painted petals and butterflies, dreams and doodles, all on tote bags that were as expressive as the women holding them. Some of us hadn’t held a paintbrush since school. Some of us held it like it was a sword…but we were there, together, showing up for ourselves in a way that felt rare and refreshing.

There was nervous laughter at the beginning. “Is this the right shade of purple?” “Is it okay if my flower looks like a broccoli?” But soon, those questions turned into confident strokes and proud grins.

Tote bags slowly bloomed with butterflies, flowers, abstract designs, and the occasional “oops” moment (which, as every artist knows, is just a happy accident waiting to become a masterpiece).

There were debates:
"Is this pink or coral?"
"Do polka dots count as florals?"
And the classic: "I swear this looked better in my head."

Because in that room, there were no mistakesjust masterpieces in progress. And yes, maybe some of us accidentally painted the table, but hey, art is messy—and so is life!

And yet, every tote bag was a story. Some were loud and proud, some delicate and thoughtful, and each one was as unique as the woman behind it. Somewhere between the brushstrokes and giggles, something beautiful happened—we stopped trying to be perfect, and started just being present.

While we weren’t racing, we were definitely moving toward self expression, toward connection, and maybe toward a new hobby.

As the session wrapped up and tote bags dried (and so did a few emotional eyes), one thing was clear: this was more than an art workshop. It was a mini-revolution in self-care disguised as a fun afternoon. We came in to celebrate Women’s Day; we left feeling a little lighter, a little more ourselves, and a lot more colorful.

So here’s to bold brushstrokes, unexpected laughs, and the reminder that even in the busiest of lives, we deserve to pause, play, and paint outside the lines.

To everyone who joined—thank you for bringing your creativity, your stories, and your unstoppable spirit. We’ll never look at a plain tote bag the same way again.
